Making a difference in the lives of others

Looking for something to improve your child's behavior?

If the answer is YES then you have found the answer to your prayers! The Colors of Life Behavior Kit will help children who are: having school conduct problems, stealing, displaying aggression or oppositional defiant behavior, lying, or making poor choices. With the Colors of Life Behavior Kit only 10 minutes once a day can lead to tremendous changes in behavior!

So what is the Colors of Life?
The Colors of Life Behavior Kit, developed by RCS Kirleen Richardson Neely, is best suited for children between the ages of 6 and 13. The kit is designed to assist adults with teaching children how to self evaluate, accept responsibility for their action, use coping skills, and evaluate behavior through visual cues.

So how does the Colors of Life work?
The Colors of Life Behavior Kit uses colors similar to those found on a traffic light to teach children how to make good behavior choices. From an early age children know and understand that when a traffic light is green you go, when it’s yellow you slow down and when it’s red you stop. The kit uses these colors to teach children how to evaluate their behavior and make different choices. Once a child can evaluate what color they are in, they can accept responsibility for their actions, use good coping skills, and make better choices.

How this program can be completed in 5 Easy Steps?
Detailed instructions and explanations are included in the kit but here are 5 quick steps to using the program.

  1. Explain to the child the Colors of Life Concept and identify one Behavior to work on.
  2. Discuss what color behavior the child had for that day. The adult will assist the child with self-evaluating what color they displayed.
  3. Place a token in the jar that matches the color the child had for that day. This allows the child to accept responsibility and have a visual representation of their behavior.
  4. The adult will assist the child with finding the color on the behavior card associated with the color they displayed that particular day. The adult and child will review concepts on the chart and pick one or more coping skills that the child should have used.
  5. At the end of the week the child and adult will count how many tokens are in each jar. The child will have a visual representation of how their behavior has been for the week. The adult and child will start the process over the following Monday.
