Getting married without participating
in some form of premarital counseling is like attempting
to fly an airplane without training. Most of us would
laugh at the idea of getting in the cockpit without some
knowledge. Couples all believe someone else will be the
one to divorce. The reality is,
last year 60%
of marriages ended in divorce.
Premarital counseling is not a luxury, it’s a necessity.
Couples who receive premarital
counseling are 30% less likely to get divorced.

ANY ISSUE THAT ARISES DURING THE COURSE OF COUNSELING!
What's the difference between getting
premarital counseling through my church or from a licensed
professional counselor?
All couples are different and have a
variety of experiences and expectations. Many church premarital
programs are done in a group format. Group format can be a
wonderful experience but usually do not focus on the individual
needs of your relationship. During the course of counseling
many private issues arise and couples often feel their confidentiality
remains more intact with someone outside of their church setting.
In some large group formats and churches, the presenters are
not state licensed therapists. A state licensed therapist
has many years of education and is specifically trained to
deal with counseling related issues. I provide my clients
with a Christian perspective which incorporates my education,
training and life experience.
How many times do we have to go and
when should we start?
The ideal time to start premarital counseling
is when you first get engaged. Couples who wait often find
that the rush of getting married leaves no time or money for
counseling. The bottom line is, regardless of when you start
premarital counseling is a necessity, not a luxury. Premarital
Counseling at Richardson Counseling Services consist of six
sessions for most couples. There are some couples who may
require more sessions due to relationship complications.
How much does it cost?
Premarital counseling sessions cost $100-$120 per sessions.
If you pay for all your sessions up front I offer a 10% discount.
I also guarantee you one FREE
follow-up session after being married for one year. The follow-up
session is a way to refresh concepts learned during premarital
counseling and to discuss any new issues.
